Food review
So I'm kinda new to this whole food prep ideal, been looking around for a while and am finally to a point finance wise that I can start putting together preps. Some of you might say well it only costs X amount of money to get a bag of Y. I would agree with that, but the number of times I would leave the bank with 1 dollar in my account are more than I care to count.
Anyway enough with that... the main reason for this post is a food review. I've seen people up here who pack tuna or salmon in their preps and I was in Sam's Club doing a bit of shopping and came across Member's Mark Natural Wood Smoked Salmon. I've had regular salmon in a can before, but the smoked part got me interested. All I gotta say about this is damn.. it's GOOD! It's ocean farm raised and comes out of Chile. The smoke flavoring isn't overpowering at all and it doesn't taste the least bit fishy. I ate it right outta the can with a little bit of raspberry italian dressing, but I'm more tolerant to eating stuff plain than most people I know so take that for what it's worth. Price was 9.11 for 4 7oz cans nutrition info 2 oz serving Calories 104 (from fat 55) Total fat 6g 9% Sat. Fat 1.6g 8% Cholest 32mg 11% Sodium 244 mg 10% Protein 12g |
Re: Food review
I'll keep an eye out for it. I love fish - but canned tuna and salmon gets old after a while - some smoked stuff would be nice - but can't say i've seen it.
Most people around here would probablly call that bit expensive for prep stuff - and I'd probablly agree...seems most want 1k lbs of rise in their garage ;p I go for a wide variety of things myself - but I typically go for a meal in a can for around a dollar or less. $2.25 a meal is getting a bit much imo for prep stocking. |
Re: Food review
Put it up mainly as a "variety item" Would I buy it as a main food supply, no.. but something for a bit of variety yeah.

Once you get a decent supply of basics, start adding in as much variety and components as you can. Fish, ham, spam, canned chicken, freeze dried chicken, beef, etc. Dont forget dried carrots, onions, celery, apples, banana, etc. |
